This course focuses on the officer’s daily interactions with the community and is designed to build officer awareness on how their behavior controls many interactions they have within the communities they police. This training includes a focus on experiential learning, whereby the officer learns through a reflection on the learning process. Officers will engage in dialogues and other exercises that stress the importance of understanding the dynamic between police and community members, unconscious bias, power hierarchies, and comprehending the process of working with resistance.
